Had fun Wednesday night at '93 til infinity @ the khyber. It was nice seeing more people who I haven't seen since Crushin' @ Raven Lounge. The impromptu bboy session was a nice change of pace, too. Also got to watch Ichi the Killer and Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance!

.) Dusk - Angel Baby: It's imperative to always start off your mix with a great, catchy song. This one's a classic. "Should I stay...ayayaayay or should I go?" (5*)
.) Turbo Fruits - My Stupid Heart: It's not the best way to follow Angel Baby and it requires repeated listens to get accustomed to but in the end, you won't hate it. You can hate the chorus, though. WHINE MORE, DICKWAD. OK, I seriously just think the sound of this guy's voice makes me angry. (2*)
.) Alaska y Dinarama - Rey Del Glam: SKIP SKIP SKIP. Hokey Pokey. (2.5*)
.) Gino Washington - Around the Town: Try not to think what the song is about and it's just an upbeat song about strolling around enjoying the day. All is well. (4*)
.) The Rolling Stones - I Got the Blues: A great blues song that is wretched enough to be depressing but well crafted to be one of your favorites yet you can't due to how wretched it is. I'm trying to use "wretched" in a "good" way, if that didn't come across very well. (4*)
.) Sam Cooke - Nothing Can Change This Love: Nothing can change my love for this song. (5*)
.) Smith Westerns - Girl In Love: It's the chorus, really. I spent more time thinking about the people who would like this type of music than about the song itself. (3*)
.) Harlem - Gay Human Bones: I like to imagine all the singing is garbled and they're all just nonsense anyway. A song I already liked made much more enjoyable. (3*)
.) Barreracudas - New York Honeys: Can't go wrong with a catchy garage rock song. I don't care what it's about. (4*)
.) Devendra Banheart - Little Boys: Banheart trills and warbles like a bird. You would think that's more endearing when it comes from a girl (aka Joanna Newsom) but we're in an age where male falsetto singing is extremely popular and acceptable (Passion Pit, MGMT, etc). It's bearable to the 2:35 mark then it gets cookin.' Do like. (4*)
.) Atlus - It's Show Time: I can't imagine such a lounge-y type of tune to ever be in a video game. But there it is. (3*)
.) Miki Obata - Hatsu Koi No Letter: I don't like this as much as I should. But I still like it. (3*)
I absolutely love this song. I love the vocalist. Her voice reminds me of Chara and Lykke Li (yes, I love the low, scratchy but sultry type of singing). I listen to this ON REPEAT. (5*)
Not one of the best GNB songs I've heard. I like how Mineta sings the verses but otherwise this song is just OK. Not even the anthemic chorus does anything for me. This may grow on me the way "I Don't Wanna Die" did but that song was way more catchy and melodic. (3*)
.) NUMBER GIRL - IGGY POP FAN CLUB: Already a NUMBER GIRL fan and this is a really great song. Strangely, I kept thinking how this could be any band, really. (4*)
Haha, saxophone. (3*)
Very dark and brooding. Dark, smoky, hazy jazz club type of song. For some reason I think of a Murakami story when I hear this song. (4*)
I love that flute tune. Love it. (3*)
I love the vocalist's scratchy voice and punchy singing style and the piano. It's a catchy song, like something that would get lots of radio play. I FRIGGIN' LOVE THIS SONG. (5*)
A very lazy summer day kind of song. Seems like a chill way to end a mix. But it isn't the end! (3*)
One of those songs I can't help but be indifferent towards. (3*)
