tunes: Nirvana - Come As You Are
I don't remember how long I've ever gone without blogging. If I don't blog, you might as well assume that I've gone to the next world, which is hopefully filled with half-naked women playing volleyball (and I only just wrote that because I got finished reading Electronic Gaming Monthly and a reader rant about how the game DOA: Xtreme Beach Vollyball should have gotten an AO rating).
Sooo...what have I been up to? Mostly dwelling on geekiness, which means that I've been playing with computers, reading about computers, and talking about computers for the past few days. Plus, I'm still trying to figure out how to get my stupid USB 2.0 PCI card functioning with my external hard drive without the damn computer locking up on me. I just deleted the drivers (which I hope were the right ones) and hope to update them, although the update is for the external HDD which I don't have a problem with. Maxtor did not release an updated driver for the card.
As for site updates, I updated my system information page, but I don't know if I uploaded it yet. I know I still have to reinstall all of the software that I lost when I reformatted, but that can wait until I actually need to use them. My problem is that the drive that contains Windows XP (which I use often) is only a relatively inadequate 2.72, but after consulting with a professional, he says that I should create a separate partition for the swap file. Ummm..since I'm just a n00b when it comes to creating partitions, I'm going to wait that one out. Not that I'm using the FDISK command, I'll be using PartitionMagic, which I'm sure even youngsters can use.
I'm not working a lot, but when I do, it's pretty fun. Crap! Knock on wood! I still don't have a car, nor a day job, but hopefully that will change once I get out of college. I was thinking about pursuing A+ certification since I'm really into computer hardware, but I'm fairly novice in the networking department.
I finished Trigun a few days ago and was uncertain about the next anime I should watch. I ended up with Fruits Basket (Furuba) and so far, it's pretty damn good. My favorites are Haru, Kyo, Momiji, and I only like Yuki when he's a mouse. My other favorite is Akito, just because I always happen to dig the bad guys (thanks, Legato Bluesummers and Midvalley the Hornfreak....haha).
Don't really watch any movies. I did catch Girlfight with the wonderful Michelle Rodriguez (her debut, I believe) on the Independent Film Channel. I really want to see Better Luck Tomorrow, but I don't think it's showing at the Ritz. At least not yet. I wonder if they do plan to show it, will the place be littered with Asian thugstas? If there was a reason that I enjoyed going to the Ritz, it's that the fare mostly appealed to the indie/foreign film crowd.
I still have work to do, though. My Economics extra credit work and my final business analysis on Apple Computer.
Speaking of business, my BA (business administration) class had the last two groups present on eBay, which I highly anticipated b/c I've been following eBay for the past year. I was a bit disappointed, but I think the groups both did an excellent job. I was skeptic about eBay pursuing a B2B exclusive site. The whole idea of eBay was for consumers to sell to each other, an online flea market. When eBay "sold out" to big companies such as IBM, the front page got littered with advertisements and many small companies (the mom and pops) were upset that they have such fierce competition. I don't think that issues such as fraud should be blamed on eBay. I think consumers need to be smart and a lot more careful when handling business over the site. I know there are exceptions, but it's not eBay's responsibility. Now that eBay has acquired Paypal and dropped Billpoint, it makes paying for auctions a lot more easier (and efficient). Paypal also has a new feature to protect buyers from fraudelent auctions, and of course, they do charge. For large and pricey purchases, I'd go with it :)
