music: Sugar Plant - A Rain Discretion

After work yesterday CJ and I went to Khyber to check out Peelander-Z, who came last after performances by Allison Pollson, The Alphabet Army, and This Radiant Boy. I only worked from 6-9 so it was a very short night at work. We got there and CJ immediately spotted Peelander Yellow, who then asked the manager to help CJ inside, and she did. I was really happy about that so I tipped the manager and I tried to tip Yellow, but he wouldn't take it. :(

I took out $60 from my bank account (gotdamn, I am so poor now... I won't be able to pay off my bills for next month until I get my paycheck the 30th) and bought a rum & coke and later a Long Island Iced Tea, which Khyber NEVER fails to impress. They have the best ones. You heard it here.

Allison Pollson

I think that was her name, I don't really remember. She was very good, reminded me of a more indie Michelle Branch, for lack of a better description. She had someone on bass, but he doubled as drummer as well, and the drummer also did violin, which was often overpowered by the drums. I don't recall the setlist, it was only about 4-5 songs. Very good, though. Unfortunately that was to be her last show for a while because she was going to undergo surgery.

Alphabet Army

Nice, took a LONG time to set up due to the keyboards, guitars, vocoders, and other electronic devices that gave them the Daft Punk sound. I liked it a lot. They had a gimmick, running out in tennis/workout gear. Supposedly, they had a bassist who couldn't make it as well as puppets. I would've liked to see the puppets.

This Radiant Boy

Didn't find them anything remotely special. I thought the lead singer girl was cute. I was only concerned because after them was P-Z and I wanted them to finish ASAP.

Peelander-Z

Awesome mad fun as usual. I love these guys, they are so energetic and they always do their best to put on a fun and interactive show. CJ jumped on stage twice because she's like that. I only have videos of it, I'll try to make .gifs of them. Maybe.

I tipped the merch table $5 and we took a cab home. Got back a little after 2AM.

music: Sugar Plant - A Furrow Dub

Happy Birthday to me! :D I have Warcraft 3 now BUT I'm not playing it yet because I will never sleep. Of course, considering I had a coffee coolatta courtesy of the cool Hindu jobbers over at Dunkin' Donuts, I probably won't sleep period. Hell, I should go for it and just stay up the entire day! Hell yeah, that's the way to spend your birthday. No sleep.

I was scoping out the 'we sell bootlegs' kung fu stand at the Gallery and accused them of doing just that. Fortunately, the homie running the stand exuded friendliness and insisted that they were the real deal. I brought up the DVD of Versus and he said to bring it in... 'I'll take care of you.' Now... when a black guy says that... friendly smiling face aside, you can't help but be worried. Where's my Smith & Wesson?? Needless to say, I won't be dragging along the Versus DVD. Or should I? Maybe he'll hook me up and pass me a free DVD. That would be fly. Plus it's my birthday. I'm sad. I'm yearning for kindness and attention. Fucking hate bootlegs. I hate them more than seeing a turtle try to walk across the street wearing a hat and saying something in a negative connotation about John Locke.

So I drained my coolatta like a thirsty hooker holding an umbrella in the fall with stockings made of fur. I had to pee like none other. Walked down to 2nd & Chestnut to inquire AKA Music about the latest Boredoms. I danced my way there. I got in, picked up Vision Creation Newsun by the Boredoms, decided on a whim to see if they had any more DJ Shadow's ... Endtroducing, found it, yelped like a banana peel, and danced the 'gotta pee like horseradish' dance to the counter and paid via credit (out of my bank account... gotdamn I need money). The hipster indie rock listening worker said 'yeahhh dude jus check back on Friday.. I tink we hab it mon' I like how I made him sound like a rastafarian choking on a roach. He was actually very articulate, polite, and liberal looking.

Was the first person the bus and mommy came on board, too. I was hoping to see my sister, but at least I saw mommy. I luff mommy. Got home, found out I had two movies from Nicheflix (joy joy), played on Gaia for a long time, watched Collage of Life. Apparantly, a guy I know is in Collage of Life. I freaked out. That's awesome. CoL is a damn good movie and all you art geeks better check it out. It made me wish I was a photography student.. or at least pursued a career within the arts. That would rock shoehorn bearface donkeybutt.

Currently, I'm watching Rated R for Republican or something like that. It's very interesting. My dad is a HUGE Arnold fan so it's no surprise that he's yay for Conservatives. I love Arnold, too. He's the fawking MAN. I hope it isn't trendy to be GOP. I don't think I went right to be part of a trend. Trends are lamer than washing a car with kittens around looking for pizza.

In closing, I'd like to not only wish myself a very happy birthday, but also give a shoutout to CJ, Jane, Anne, PinayAngel, and Mommy. Thanks for being so cool. <3

music: Sugar Plant - 13

It sucks having to update so many journals, well.. it's not THAT many, but the LJ is a lot faster. I ate at Chick Fil A yesterday, my new favorite place to eat and not at Reading Terminal Market. I usually just get the nuggets and a chicken sandwich and a small Diet Coke. I devour them all like a ravenous monkey with a pink tail. After work, I went to Wendys where I scoped the dollar menu and devoured the food like an angry hippo with no moustache. I also read a lot of Parakiss (Paradise Kiss) which I really like so far aside from the lame story with George and the girl... I call her Caroline like Miwako. The art is terrific and the balance between drama, comedy and romance is perfect. Hell, I like it and I only like stuff like Hikaru no Go (which I'm still waiting for DAMMIT!). I hovered around Wet Seal at the Gallery, too, afraid to go in because I loathe stores like Wet Seal. The Eagles won last night, it was a good game. Randy Moss has braids (or were they dreads, don't remember). Vocal as usually, and I enjoyed his pass interference. Thank you, Randy. I also caught that Owens fumble and was surprised that Tyce didn't challenge that, but he did catch that illegal halfback option pass from Mitchell back to McNabb. I don't know football like that, but I wish I did. I want to impress fat guys who drink lots of beer.

Sugar Plant rocks more than donuts sitting on a windowsill watching the rain fall.

music: Polysics - Black Out Fall Out

Happy Monday! No not really, only good thing about Monday this time of the season is football! I haven't posted much lately because 1. I hated my previous blue layout and 2. Not much really happened. Unless I do some introspection which I think is useless and I don't really feel like posting my personal thoughts on the internet. Who's really entertained by that, anyway? As far as this site is concerned, there is still layout work to be done, namely navigation. Content is also going to be added, I just don't have the motivation. Last week, I went to the dentist to have my wisdom teeth looked at. That reminds me, I still haven't called an oral surgeon! So yeah, I have impacted wisdom teeth and they MUST be removed. I also got my ipods back on Friday. Ecstatic. I'm so glad to have them working again. Cost me almost 300 to get them repaired. It's too bad someone doesn't develop a media player that has capabilities of both the Archos Jukebox and the iPod. I wish I could, I'd be rolling in dough. I didn't work Friday or Saturday evenings.... weather and attendance related, I guess. Oh yeah, I saw the last Alien movie Resurrection which was unbelievably lame (but that half court shot over the shoulder by Sigourney Weaver made me love her more), Legend of the Evil Lake (a Korean fantasy film that was surprisingly good), and The Aliens Saga which was a documentary on the Aliens franchise. I can't wait to get more movies in the mail! XD

music: m-flo loves Boa - Love Bug

My god, I just checked all my accounts today and I'm back to 4K in credit card debt. Thanks a lot summer vacation! I worked so hard to cut that in half and now I'm back to where I started. That's so depressing. I don't know what I can do to lessen the debt aside from working more hours, but that means going back to the movie theater, where the pay is shite. I'll need to find another night and weekend job. If only the theater paid more than min wage... Well, at least the laptop payments are almost finished, and that didn't even cost much.

Tuesday I skipped work because I had to wait for a package, the iPod boxes which I didn't want to have them send back b/c it cost so much to ship! I packed the pods in and mailed it off at Hahneman Hospital, this really ghetto hospital on Broad and Arch. I didn't pack it very well so I'm praying that my pods got there in one piece. I hope no one shady decided to grab them and keep it for themselves.

My wisdom teeth are killing me and it's giving me blisters! It's so hard to open my mouth just to talk. Plus I can't really eat anything b/c chewing is absolute torture. I want candy so bad. I'm seriously craving for junk food right now. I think the fact that my metabolism is still fast is a good reason to eat as much as possible. Then again... later health problems... bah, I don't want to think about it!

Hi CJ and Anne. <3, :D

music: K-OS - B-Boy Stance

Happy Labor Day Monday! Not doing anything today except laying in bed with my laptop. At least tomorrow is Tuesday, which means a shorter week. I'm hateful towards working on Mondays. I'd rather go back on a Tuesday. Friday night nothing exceptional happened except I went out for drinks after work with the managers and a coworker. I had to suffer being called a lush the next day. At least the drinks were worth it ($9 for Long Island Iced Teas?!). I spent about $40 total. Not too bad. I may go back there and hang out at the bar, just downing drinks. Saturday, I felt bad, but not so horrid that I couldn't go to work. I still didn't want to go, though, but alas, I did and I was pissed about it. I had a bad hair day that I had no desire to fix and just absorbed all the looks. Hey, I didn't think it was -that- bad. Sunday was also a day for absolutely nothing. I did watch Alien and it completely rocked. Watched a bunch of other movies, too, but I forgot what they were. I think I'll sell more stuff on eBay since I'm broke. I should be getting a paycheck this week, though. Yay.

music: L'arc~en~Ciel - Ready Steady Go

I don't remember what happened Wednesday. I worked on my website so now it actually looks like something. Last night work was blah and went out for a drink with my co-workers, then stopped by Sean's for more refreshments. I was fucking sick and tired when I got home. Happy Friday, all. It's Labor Day weekend and I got no shit planned. Fock. I don't care about the Kobe shit, I hope Oksana makes it through the hurricane okay, and 4 more years for Bush. Back rubs are greatly appreciated. My body is tired.

music: Enigma - Return to Innocence

Yargh! I pulled a muscle this morning. Woke me up from a dream, although I have no idea what it was about. I know some personal people made guest appearances. The good thing is, now that I've dreamt, I may actually remember something. For once. Which is highly unusual. After work yesterday, CJ and I went to this Japanese restaurant called Genji which is between 17 and 18th on Sansom. I wanted to cry because everything was so damn expensive. We had Ebu Shumai Shrimp thing for appetizer (I'm so bad at remembering shit) and we shared a bento box. I let CJ have the miso soup and I had the sake, since CJ is too young for alcohol and they pretty much shoved it in her face. For dessert, CJ had green tea ice cream, which was very strong and I had Kirin light. I prefer light beer since I'm picky and I can't stand the taste of dark beer. The bill came to about $40 something and I tipped 9 so it was $50.81. Yay, I dreamed last night so I could remember how much the bill at the Japanese restaurant was. We took the bus home which was filled with ghetto trash and 15-year old mothers.

Oh, mom bought Passion of the Christ and The Lion King on DVD. I knew she'd get Passion. No one really liked it. Too much sensationalization. The Massacre of the Christ.
