The brilliance of my situation. Not only do I have to be up by 7:30ish today, but I also have to work at the Ritz tonight AND I'm closing! Is this any different than having a day off? Nah. I'd most likely be working at ImageReady and posting at Gaia. Sad but true. It is and was a good day for music, somewhat. The ooioo (yeah, I'll try pronouncing that one day) album wasn't disappointing, but it also wasn't worth recommending to the crackheads down my block. While the music was reminiscent of Ichi the Killer (for good reason, I believe the music is in the movie, but mine novice ears could be mistaken), it was awfully repetitive. Not necessarily a bad thing, but this chic often favors drum beats here and there in order to maintain some sort of interest. So not until 2 or 3 minutes in the song will you hear something of the like. Due to that sole inclusion, the album was not a complete failure. Phew. Moving on. Bump of Chicken was also superb, I'd file them under the "bands that sound like the pillows so they're damn good" section. Only 3 or so songs I've sampled, but enough for me to pass judgment. Mondo Grosso is on repeat right now and I'm also ripping at a really crappy bitrate, but I have to get them on the pod ASAP! MG4 is brilliant and it's an excellent choice I made. At first, my initial impression was utter sadness that the music made me feel literally poor (as if this music was made for people who could afford to take luxury cruise ship vacations), but now that it's almost 3AM, this is chillout music. Which is obviously my preferred choice of music. Anything to remind me that life is still good is always welcomed. Oh, as an insignificant blurb, I tried watching Versus again. On a whim. Needless to say, my attentions wandered elsewhere and the madness stopped. Heh, I don't want to admit it, but it's quite possible I really AM jaded by Miike. What a wonderfully sick man. Hm.
